"It's not how much money you have, or looks, or power, its PRESENCE.."

If this is true, why are there so many balding, overweight broke guys out there who can’t get a date? Why are most women fighting over the “alpha males” while leaving the rest home playing video games if they really wanted the bald and broke? If these guys had the “presence,” outlined in the article, would they get a date? Somehow, I doubt it.”Presence” seems to be obtained by looking good with expensive haircuts, manicures and lotions. The right haircut will impress as “the look of money or prosperity comes from shiny, healthy well-trimmed ends and natural looking color” (#9). If women aren’t impressed by money, then why is the author telling men to have expensive looking hair that “looks like money.” I thought money didn’t matter. I’m confused, are you?And men aren’t even supposed to look like men. They should not be wearing plaid or flannel shirts (#10) and if they mow the lawn, they shouldn’t let anyone know it. Cover it with a manicure or hand lotion (#13 and #14). If any male reader out there has gotten a date by walking up to a woman and saying “You look very elegant and sophisticated” (#18), while sporting hand lotion, a manicure, and a non-interrupting style while she talks (#3), let us know. Perhaps I’m missing something here. Dr. Groth studied at Franklin and Marshall College and Duquesne University, and completed his PhD at Fordham University. He is the author of three books, and co-editor of Engaging College Men: Discovering What Works and Why, chapters in five books, twenty-six articles and fifty book reviews in nineteen different peer-reviewed journals. He is past editor of the International Journal of Men’s Health co-founding editor with Diederik Janssen of Thymos: Journal of Boyhood Studies. Professor Groth will be in Australia soon to present at the Australian Institute of Male Health and Studies’ first Male Studies Symposium in Adelaide in June, at the Adelaide Convention Centre, where his topic will be ‘The Boy is Father to the Man’. As part of his presentation, he will speak about the state of the nuclear family, in particular the missing father and the effects of this on boys’ lives. Not taking it laying down however, “Tom” has embarked on a personal mission to warn an unsuspecting community, of the destructive practices employed by the divorce industry, and tells of the tactics he is using to expose such practices. Well worth listening to, especially for all those who are at a point where perhaps they feel there is nowhere else to go, and that there is nothing they can personally do.

Safe to say, typography is seen every day. It's absolutely everywhere and cannot be avoided. We take letters and words for granted. At Kansas City Art Institute: School of Graphic Design, we are taking these letters and throwing them around in expressive, interesting, and uniquely artistic ways. It's exciting to say the least. And we are inviting you to take part in seeing and even helping us do a bit of what we make and learn.
