Man Sentenced in Red Roof Inn Robbery
The victim advised that two suspects entered through the main entrance of the hotel; one was armed with a black and silver revolver tucked into his blue jean shorts. One of the subjects took between $100 and $140 from the cash register.
Both subjects then left the premises. Detectives processed the crime scene, locating one fingerprint where one of the subjects had placed his ungloved hand at the time of the robbery. This fingerprint belonged to Jacob Vereecken.
The victim was then shown a photo line-up and positively identified Vereecken as one of the subjects who robbed her.
Aggravated Robbery is a class 1 felony with a sentencing range of probation or 4-15 years in the Department of Corrections followed by 2 years of mandatory supervised release. Wow. So i worked at this location awhile back and knew when i witnessed drug busts...weirdos...needles...prostitution....crazy things that it was time for me to go! Bless the staff they are great people but it takes courage to be a housekeeper because things like this are in the back of your mind the whole time your inside one of those rooms! Glad to see justice was served!!!
