Live like the upper-class
Juicy steaks imported from Argentina sprinkled with special herbs flown in from New York brought right to your room... A concierge at your beck and call… A bottle of French Champagne on crisp white linen… Five-star luxury, every year, for the rest of your life, yet your balance sheet remains intact…
At times most of us, if we're honest, dream about living the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Previously a pipedream for middle-class mortals, there's now a way to buy into what up to now was only accessible to those with seven-figure bank balances. Enter the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Residence…
The Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Residence is a five-star establishment situated in sought after Green Point on the edge of Cape Town's swanky CBD within a few minutes from the V&A Waterfront, Blue Flag beaches and a host of trendy clubs, bars and entertainment venues.
What makes it stand out from the multitude of plush Cape Town hotels is the scheme by which, for R225 000, you can buy a share in one of its two-bedroom ultra-luxury apartments. This share entitles you to seven days usage per year (whether on consecutive days or not), whenever you choose.
This is not timeshare where you would not hold any claim to the ownership of the property. Sure, you have a week of allocated use every year per share that you buy, however you own a title deed, as you would with any property purchase, as opposed to units of "time".
You may sell your share at any time at any price, releasing capital growth from your "bricks and mortar" investment. You may bequeath your share to your heirs, give it away, allow friends to use it, invite guests to share it with you or rent the apartment out if you so please. In other words, you enjoy all the rights and privileges of owning real estate through ownership of your share in a Cape Royale apartment.
Your share forms part of your portfolio of assets and if the property appreciates in value so does your share. Of course, the converse is also true as it is with any property investment.
This also differs from most fractional ownership schemes in the sense that construction of the hotel and residences are complete and everything is paid for.
You'd think that only foreigners would be interested in buying into a Capetonian five-star hotel, yet most of the buyers thus far are South African, and many actually reside in Cape Town.

Fractional Ownership and the Historic Dominican Republic ...
Are you looking for FRACTIONAL OWNERSHIP PROPERTIES , why not consider the Dominican Republic? It is a territory on the island of Hispaniola, and it is one of the largest Caribbean islands other than Cuba and has an estimated population of 10 million. The Dominican Republic is one of the only two Caribbean islands owned by 2 countries – the Greater Antilles and Haiti on the west side of the island.
In 1492, Hispaniola was discovered by Christopher Columbus during one of his four trips to America, it was inhabited by The Taino who were on the island since the 7th century. When Christopher Columbus discovered the island it was the first European settlement and Spain’s first Capital in the New World. Over the next 3 centuries, the country was ruled by the Spanish and French until the country became independent and Haiti took control.
The Taino were mainly fishermen, farmers and hunter-gatherers, the Caribs used brutal war to push the Taino out of the area to the Northeast of the Caribbean during the 15th Century. The Spanish came to the island in 1492 and Christopher Columbus named it La Espanola. His brother Bartholomew built the city of Santo Domingo. At this stage Taino had all but disappeared, no thanks to European diseases that the Spaniards had transferred to the island which the Taino had no immunity from other causes was suicide, starvation and slavery. The Spaniards made a plantation economy here, for which some of the Tainos were used as slaves as they were very experienced in agriculture. The French arrived on the island in 1795 and succeeded in capturing Santo Domingo, which allowed them to control the entire island by 1802, Napoleon sent an army to capture Toussaint Louverture and sent him to the prison in France. Slaves of Santo Domingo, France were directed by him in a rebellion against France. In 1804, rebels in Haiti made the island a republic of Haiti.
After years of attempted independence plots by different groups failing, José Nunez de Caceres declared independence on November 30, 1931, only for Haitians to invade again, and take control of the island, Haitians abolished slavery but also brought about the nationalization of most private property, including all property of landowners who had left because of the invasion. Haitians had changed the tax system and permitted foreign trade, there were also more cash crops grown on large plantations, too, but the changes were generally not appreciated by Dominican farmers. Education was been abandoned and collapsed and the university closed because there was no money put into the system and the Haitian men aged between 16 and 25 were sent to the army. This time in Haitian history was led by Jean Pierre Boyer who was overthrown in 1843 by the people because of how he had treated the country and its people.
