The University of Akron Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference, announced on Wednesday start times for its 2011 football home games. All six home outings, including the annual battle for the Wagon Wheel against neighborhood rival and league divisional opponent Kent State on Nov. 12, will be held on a Saturday at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. After starting the season on Sept. 3 at Big Ten opponent Ohio State in a noon ET ESPN HD or ESPN2 HD telecast, Akron opens its home schedule versus MAC East Division peer Temple on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. on ESPN3, the network’s broadband channel. A variety of special events will encompass the day, including a salute to local heroes (police, fire, safety) and a Military Appreciation Day, as well as ticket promotions designed for employees of both the city of Akron and Summit County, and local motorcycle organizations.
