Movie review: Friends with Benefits
.Everything about this movie is trying to look and feel — and sound! — hip, from its amusing rapid-fire exchanges of profanity-laced dialog, to its eclectic pop music soundtrack (including such diverse fare as Fitz & the Tantrums, Kriss Kross, and G. Love and Special Sauce), right up to the clever iPad-inspired touchscreen end credits.
Combine this with a keenly observed sense of urban social consciousness, a whole lot of humor, and some genuine (and unexpectedly frank) steaminess in the sex scene department, and what we've got here is a fun summer film for consenting cosmopolitan adults.
None of this would work, of course, unless stars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake seemed to be hitting it off — by getting it on — onscreen. And they do: They really, really do.
When we first meet them, both Dylan (Timberlake) and Jamie (Kunis) are in the process of being dumped by their respective lovers. The partner-critical consensus on Dylan is that he's "emotionally unavailable." In Jamie's case, it's a matter of "emotional damage." Separated by 2,000 miles of the country, they independently come to the conclusion that they'd prefer to be more like George Clooney (i.e.Emotionally detached - or, as Dylan said - "just work, and f ** k") They have the form to be two sides of a single piece of yin-yang, and they never even met.
This changes if successful California-based webzine creator Dylan flies to New York for an interview set up by the company headhunter Jamie. He expressed skepticism about the position (with
(See, it only receives his commission if he rents it.)
Jamie gives Dylan the whirlwind visit of six hours started in Manhattan, identified by their immersion in a certain action flash mob in Times Square. She closes the deal by taking him to her secret hangout, which involves sneaking through parking garage security to access the rooftop of a mid-level skyscraper: The Empire State Building towers above, while the garishly-lit streets below seem impossibly remote. "It's the only place in the city where you can see the stars," she tells him, lying back and staring up at the sky.
Once Dylan moves to the city, he and Jamie begin spending more and more time together as friends — they've shared tales of their relationship traumas, and thus intentionally avoid a romantic connection. (Besides, he's a laid-back Californian and she's a high-intensity New York gal. Totally incompatible, right?

Coin Dealers
It was drama and ding dong battle of some sort between local coin dealers and perceived intruders who wanted to break into their trade and monopoly of the local market. It all started when a traveling coin buying company played what has been perceived as tricky business gimmicks. Had the adventurous intruders known what the local champions had up their sleeves however, they would have stayed clear of their territory.
The battle was between Iowa, coin dealer Scott Nichols and Ohio Valley Gold and Silver Refinery-- the Local Coin Dealers and the intruders respectively.Scott Nichols is the owner of the Ames Iowa and parts of Chester gifts to fill with a company known as the parts travel Coin Collectors Association International would have passed through the city.
Obviously, the offense was not just passing through town, it was they were buying silver coins and rare coins at a price below the price of the room in a local hotel. The local currency dealers have complained about the incident before deciding to take it as an interesting challenge - then they had to match the intruders gimmick gimmick.
This time around it was his sister company of the ICCA that came into town but unknown to them the Local Coin Dealers were ready this time. Ohio Valley Gold and Silver Refinery had to pay for the offense of ICCA--then started a price war of wits between the two with one company pitched at Country Inn and Suites and the other at Comfort Inn.
It all turned interesting when the Local Coin Dealers chose a hotel with not just a similar sounding name, but in a location much more accessible than that of the intruders. A cheeky road sign captioned “Coin Show” helped to complete the interesting game along with the inscription “We Buy Gold”. The result was simple; folks headed to the comp of the intruders were easily diverted to the camp of the locals. It was easy to predict who won the contest.
