NaDEorDIE- Funny you should mention doing research…might want to do some yourself. As an American i gota say i love American fighters and the Raptor is without a doubt the best. I am also a pilot of 17 years and would consider myself somewhat of an aviation expert. Im seeing a lot of cheerleading by Americans who dont like using facts. I can appreciate good aircraft regardless of their origin. It has been proven that the Flanker has the best fighter design in aviation history for speed and agility. The ability of the SU-35BM is being greatly understated in this forum. The Super Flanker is the most maneuverable fighter in the world and undoubtedly the best all around package aside from the Raptor. This kind of ignorance is what has caused the US to end up with an old out dated inventory of fighters with the exception of the Raptor. The USAF has admitted the F-15C/E is no match for the SU-30MK and the NAVY is replacing its fleet with the Super Hornet which is the only 4th generation fighter in the world with a thrust to weight ratio of less than 1:1. The US needs an aircraft that can be built in numbers but still have the edge on foreign counterparts. The F-15SE looks like a great option although im sure it will be scrapped because its not 100% brand new. With Russian and China experiencing an incredible period of military growth and tech advancement, if the US doesnt start building F-35′s soon or continue building Raptors then there is a very real chance that we may have a very underestimated playing field. Fortunately US battle planning and communications will still give the US an advantage in any real conflict.

The arms race started along with the cold war, which was around 1947 or something. The fact that u were stupid enough 2 involve yr selves into an arms race that could not be supported by yr economy was yr fault, u can’t blame US 4 that. This is the mistake the Americans R NOT DOING RIGHT NOW. Why do u think they stopped many programs, like the F-22? Bcs they know they don’t need it right now, & it would be a waste of money in these tricky economical times. They r smarter than u were/are.
