Longtime Disney manager to guide Vero Beach Resort
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Disney's Vero Beach Resort sprinkled some pixie dust and named Paul Hart its new general manager.
Hart replaces Sheryl Koenes, who will now manage the Caribbean Beach Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
Hart, 53, has worked for Disney for the past 23 years, most recently as general manager at Disney's Hilton Head Resort for seven years. He has also worked in resort operations at Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Lines.
In his new position, Hart will oversee both the Disney Vero Beach and Hilton Head Vacation Club Resorts, although he and his family will move to Vero Beach by the end of July. He was introduced to Disney cast members and community and government officials at a reception July 8.
"I visited Vero Beach on several occasions and we always had a wonderful time," Hart said. "Vero Beach is a residential community that is so impressive, and when this opportunity came up, I jumped at it."
Hart said he will use the opportunity to get to know the Vero Beach community and the resort's cast members, and continue the legacy of community service started by Koenes during her tenure.
"I know about the commitment that Disney has to this community," Hart said. "We're dedicated to all community agencies, and we will continue to be a strong, supportive partner."
As a member of the United Way of Indian River County's board of directors, Koenes will be missed, United Way CEO Michael Kint said.
"Sheryl brought finesse, dedication and true heart to her work in this community and with our United Way," Kint said. "We have every hope that the new Disney's Vero Beach resort manager, Paul Hart, will continue the legacy of support and commitment that Sheryl built up over her time with us. We have a long relationship with Disney's Vero Beach Resort and they have been enthusiastically supportive of United Way and its partner agencies."
Hart said he hopes to expand some of the services at the resort to continue to add value to a guest's vacation.
"I want to offer programs that keep Disney guests coming back," Hart said. "I'm so excited for the opportunity to come to Vero. I'm really thrilled to be here.
